ERP systems, CRM platforms, Microsoft 365, cloud environments, and specialized applications are capturing more data than ever before. And for every metric, there’s a dashboard. But when you're looking for strategic insights, the answer often seems less obvious than expected. Why is that?

Data alone means nothing. You can only start creating value when different data points come together to tell a consistent story. But that’s where many companies run into trouble:

  • Scattered sources

    Data is often spread across different systems and teams. This makes it difficult to maintain a clear overview.

  • Unclear definitions

    Goals and KPIs are sometimes interpreted differently across departments. And that leads to endless, avoidable discussions.

The power of a strong data culture

Without a shared language, data remains merely an operational concept, when it should actually provide strategic answers. That’s why it’s really important to build a deep-rooted data culture: ensuring that your employees use the same definitions, actively share data, and base decisions on facts. This way, you create a single source of truth and focus on impactful insights, rather than just reporting.

4. Hybrid IT asks for clear governance

Some applications run on-premises, other workloads are moving to the public cloud, employees are increasingly using SaaS solutions, … Hybrid IT is a common reality these days. And there’s nothing wrong with that. On the contrary. This approach usually offers the flexibility and scalability that modern businesses are looking for. But when your environment starts to grow uncontrollably, things start to get messy.

And that happens much more often than you’d think: a small cloud project here, a new SaaS solution there, and before you know it, you’ve completely lost track of everything. The solution? Many experienced professionals are tempted to centralize everything. But governance is much more valuable in this scenario. By establishing clear rules, ensuring everyone knows which tools are allowed (and which are not), and by clarifying who’s responsible for managing them, you’ll truly regain control. Not by trying to micromanage everything.

5. Cybersecurity that adapts to your reality

Security has long ceased to be a standalone project. It has a massive impact on your business continuity, reputation, customer trust, and strategic objectives. But what we still see in many organizations is that they focus solely on prevention, while a successful security strategy is actually based on cyber resilience: the ability to detect risks, minimize the impact of incidents as much as possible, and get back up and running quickly.

Only when all the aspects of your security strategy work together can you truly get the most out of your investments. And for many companies, that means shifting their focus: paying more attention to structural agility, adopting a proactive approach, and implementing a layered security strategy. Because if you want more control over your IT, you also need to be prepared for things you can’t predict.

The sooner you identify potential threats, the smaller the impact on your organization. An effective risk detection strategy combines constant monitoring, vulnerability scans, and risk assessments, along with clear reporting on the potential consequences for your business.

Can you guarantee that you’ll never have to deal with cybercrime? Unfortunately, no. But with a thorough incident response plan, your security team won’t have to improvise when things go wrong. Establish clear guidelines regarding responsibilities and protocols so that everyone knows what’s expected of them.

When an incident has disrupted your organization’s continuity, it is important to restore your critical processes and services as quickly as possible. What you consider essential, and which systems are prioritized for recovery, forms the basis of your disaster recovery strategy.
