Taking back control

Not long ago, all of Xerius’ systems—from databases and application servers to networks and telephony—ran entirely in a third-party data center. Xerius had no infrastructure of its own. “It made little sense to just replicate that scenario in a new data center,” the IT team explains. “We didn’t want a simple lift-and-shift. We wanted a thoughtful, future-proof approach. Working with Arxus, we evaluated each application individually and chose the best destination: public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid.”

Azure First with common sense

Xerius made a clear strategic decision: new applications are deployed by default in Azure. However, a pragmatic approach remains key. Business-critical or sensitive systems are still hosted in the Arxus private cloud. What does that look like in practice?

Web applications now run entirely in Azure.
The family support system remains in the private cloud, due to compliance and data availability requirements.
Telephony is centralized in the Arxus data center.
Employees received new laptops with the latest Windows applications.
SharePoint was migrated to the private cloud, with Microsoft Teams and OneDrive on the roadmap.

This hybrid approach allowed Xerius to gradually phase out its old environment—without disrupting business operations in any way.
